Baseball Game Preview: North Arlington Vikings vs. Secaucus Patriots

The North Arlington Vikings will face off against the Secaucus Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Arlington will be strutting in after a victory while Secaucus will be coming in after a loss.

North Arlington took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Harrison a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Blue Tide: they've now won nine in a row.

Matt Higgins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris Troyano, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Rohan Patel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Secaucus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against St. Mary, falling 13-0.

Secaucus' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for North Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Everything went North Arlington's way against Secaucus in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as North Arlington made off with a 9-1 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
