Baseball Recap: Granby Drops Highest Score of Season Against Palmer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granby). They put the hurt on the Palmer Panthers with a sharp 15-3 victory on Friday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 15-2 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Joseph Barrett made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Barrett was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Brandon Carillon was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Gavin Moreno was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Granby's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Palmer, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granby will venture away from home to square off against Monson at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palmer, they will head out to take on Chicopee at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Pacers at the right time seeing as the Pacers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
