Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for La Canada

La Canada extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 15-11 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Village Christian Crusaders. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Crusaders back in March, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Scott Burns looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Benji Geller, who earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Flowerhogan, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Village Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs.

On Village Christian's side, Esai Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Nick Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Canada will host Temple City at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Village Christian, they will be playing at home against Flintridge Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
