Basketball Game Preview: Santana Sultans vs. Central Spartans

The Santana Sultans and the Central Spartans will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. The timing isn't great for Santana: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Central has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Santana fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against High Tech CV on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. While the Sultans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bruins 18-14 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Monte Vista 52-47. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Santana will have to contain Daimaggio Wyatt as he made an impact in Central's last game. He dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Wyatt's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joap Soto Chavez, who posted eight points and four steals.

Santana's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Santana was able to grind out a solid victory over Central when the teams last played back in January, winning 55-45. Does Santana have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
