Swartz Creek had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Kearsley Hornets with a sharp 14-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Madeline Pier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Pier was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Avery Nuffer was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Keileigh Barror, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Kearsley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Swartz Creek will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Stoney Creek at 4:00 p.m. As for Kearsley, they will take on Bentley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
