Basketball Game Preview: Weir Red Riders vs. Steubenville Big Red

The Weir Red Riders will take on the Steubenville Big Red at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Weir is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 71-45 to John Marshall.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Steubenville). They took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 69-10 victory over Brooke. The win was familiar territory for the Big Red who have now won three contests in a row.

Steubenville is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Weir, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Weir came up short against Steubenville when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 47-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Steubenville's Nylah McShan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
