Volleyball Recap: Marco Island Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Giuliana Batelli and Cambree Grensing

Marco Island Academy and Canterbury squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Marco Island Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2. The Rays were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Marco Island Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 25-27, 14-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11.

Marco Island Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cambree Grensing, who had 14 digs and one assist, and Giuliana Batelli, who had 18 kills, 11 digs, and four aces. Batelli is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least six every time she's taken the court this season.

Marco Island Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Canterbury, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season.
