Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. Yreka Miners
The West Valley Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Yreka Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Valley is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
West Valley suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 75-49 loss at the hands of University Prep. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss West Valley has suffered against University Prep since May 6, 2021.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Blaze Collins, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Chase Kalnins was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Yreka's six-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They took down Anderson 58-42.
West Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Yreka, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
West Valley beat Yreka 70-63 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
