Softball Recap: Seton Lasalle Has No Trouble Against Carlynton

Seton LaSalle got themselves on the board against Carlynton on Monday, but Carlynton never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars 21-0. The Rebels have beaten the Cougars the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Layla Chapman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Seton LaSalle got a massive performance out of Kara Collins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Collins has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kamyia Morris, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Seton LaSalle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Seton LaSalle's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Carlynton, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Seton LaSalle and Carlynton will both be playing Our Lady of the Sacred Heart the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Chargers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rebels will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
