Watertown suffers 12th straight loss on the road

Recap: Watertown Indians vs. Woodland Regional Hawks

The Watertown Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The game between Watertown and Woodland Regional wasn't particularly close, with Watertown falling 70-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Watertown in their matchups with Woodland Regional: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Watertown still got an impressive performance from Justin Black Jr. , who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris O'Toole, who scored nine points.

Watertown struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Woodland Regional pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland Regional to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dean Accetura, who scored 23 points. The game was Accetura's seventh in a row with at least ten points. James Scampolino was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.

Watertown's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Woodland Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watertown will take on Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Oxford is ranked 167th, while Watertown is ranked 158th). As for Woodland Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Naugatuck at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Naugatuck comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
