Basketball Recap: Donna Comes Up Short

Donna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mercedes Tigers. The Redskins were probably out for revenge after losing 36-24 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mercedes found their leader in freshman Eric Lozoya, who posted 13 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeramiah Rodriguez, who put up nine points and three steals.

Donna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Mercedes, they pushed their record up to 8-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Donna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-34 loss against Porter on the 10th. As for Mercedes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-53 defeat against Weslaco East on the 10th.
