Baseball Recap: McCall-Donnelly Vandals vs. Clearwater Valley Rams

McCall-Donnelly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clearwater Valley Rams. The Vandals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Cole Naugle was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Rommie Lewis III also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

McCall-Donnelly's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Clearwater Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

McCall-Donnelly will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Weiser at 4:00 p.m. on April 2. As for Clearwater Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Grangeville at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Clearwater Valley's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Grangeville has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
