Softball Recap: Bremen Comes Up Short

Bremen extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Tinley Park Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 last Wednesday.

Nataly Castaneda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs. Hannah Salkeld was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Tinley Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games.

On Tinley Park's side, Emily Korduplewski was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Korduplewski has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Megan Piotrowski, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Aggen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Bremen has already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against Reavis on the 24th. As for Tinley Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 20-6 win against Blue Island Eisenhower on the 24th.
