Baseball Game Preview: Blythewood Bengals vs. White Knoll Timberwolves

The Blythewood Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the White Knoll Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blythewood has 11 straight victories, White Knoll has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Blythewood's win against Lugoff-Elgin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Blythewood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Lugoff-Elgin on Thursday.

Blythewood's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Macon Leppert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Zach Hardy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, White Knoll fell victim to Dutch Fork and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Silver Foxes by a score of 2-0.

Denzel Posey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

White Knoll's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Blythewood, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Blythewood couldn't quite get it done against White Knoll when the teams last played back in April of 2017 as they fell 4-1. Can Blythewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
