Basketball Recap: Shawnee Beats Bishop Hartley for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Shawnee entered their tilt with Bishop Hartley on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Bishop Hartley Hawks by a score of 69-57.

Leading Shawnee to victory were Beckett Bertke and Trevick Bertke. Beckett shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 boards, while Trevick dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The match was Beckett's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Tate Bender was another key player, putting up ten points.

Shawnee's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Bishop Hartley, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.

Shawnee and Lima Central Catholic will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Lima Central Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Bishop Hartley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-48 win against Northland on the 23rd.
