Football Recap: Canyon Comanches vs. Laguna Hills Hawks
Canyon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 42-28 bruising from the Laguna Hills Hawks on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Comanches of the 35-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Canyon still got an impressive performance from Alexander Lundsberg, who threw for 403 yards and three TDs. Lundsberg has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Leading Laguna Hills to victory were Khryztopher Entrala and Jaxson Vanderbeek. Entrala rushed for 110 yards and three scores on only ten carries, while Vanderbeek threw for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Entrala's longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Jden Burmaster, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD.
Coming up, Canyon will take on Ayala at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Laguna Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
