Basketball Game Preview: Cortez Colts vs. Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks

Having just played yesterday, the Cortez Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Sunrise took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cortez, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Cortez was able to grind out a solid victory over Tempe, taking the game 63-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.

Meanwhile, Desert Sunrise took a blow against Dysart on Thursday, falling 97-32. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Demons are ranked 55th).

Cortez's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Desert Sunrise, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-17.

Everything came up roses for Cortez against Desert Sunrise when the teams last played on January 15th, as the squad secured an 80-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cortez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
