Softball Recap: Lehman Catholic Gets the Win

Lehman Catholic's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Riverside Pirates 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Cavaliers: when they faced off against the Pirates back in April, they had to take a 17-10 defeat.

Bailey Cotterman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Callie Giguere, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Melanie Karn also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Lehman Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lehman Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Lehman Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverside, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-3 win against Houston on the 21st.
