Alcorn Central not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 22nd. They were the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over the Walnut Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
BryLee Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.
In other batting news, Journey Phillips was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Dixon, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Alcorn Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Walnut, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
