Tyrin Bizzelle and Brendan Johnson secure win for Calvert Hall

Recap: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. Rock Creek Christian Academy White Eagles

The Calvert Hall Cardinals had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Creek Christian Academy White on Sunday and snuck past 77-74. The victory was all the more spectacular given Calvert Hall's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Rock Creek Christian Academy White is ranked 15th).

Calvert Hall was led to victory by Tyrin Bizzelle and Brendan Johnson. Bizzelle scored 23 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds, while Johnson scored 28 points along with seven steals and two blocks. Johnson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Taggart, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.

Calvert Hall's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Rock Creek Christian Academy White, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.

Calvert Hall won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Boys Latin at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. One thing working in Boys Latin's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. Rock Creek Christian Academy White will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mt. Zion Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
