Recap: Hemingway Tigers vs. Green Sea Floyds Trojans
The Hemingway Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Green Sea Floyds by a score of 49-46. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hemingway of the 51-39 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.
Hemingway lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Omarion Burgess, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Burgess is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jerel Hampton was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hemingway were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 13th loss (out of 15 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Hemingway has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Green Sea Floyds, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hemingway will play host again and welcome the Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Green Sea Floyds, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wild Gators at 7:30 p.m.
