Softball Game Preview: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Bowling Green Purples

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Bowling Green Purples at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Franklin-Simpson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Glasgow an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Scotties: they've now won five in a row.

Allie Utley and Jasmine Grover did most of the damage at the plate: Utley scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Grover scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Utley has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Holland, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Franklin-Simpson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glasgow only posted an OBP of .158.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green made easy work of Hart County on Tuesday and carried off a 10-0 victory.

Bowling Green now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Franklin-Simpson, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Everything went Franklin-Simpson's way against Bowling Green in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Franklin-Simpson made off with a 13-0 win. Will Franklin-Simpson repeat their success, or does Bowling Green have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
