Baseball Recap: Northeastern Clinton Comes Up Short

Northeastern Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 4-1 to the Schoharie Indians. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Cobe Lafountain put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Lafountain wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Schad, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Northeastern Clinton's record is now 7-5. As for Schoharie, they moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Northeastern Clinton will face off against Moriah at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Schoharie, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Unatego at 4:30 p.m.
