Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Lutheran Warriors vs. Wayne Blue Devils

The Lincoln Lutheran Warriors will face off against the Wayne Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Lincoln Lutheran's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Wayne has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Lincoln Lutheran was able to grind out a solid victory over Auburn, taking the game 5-1.

Kruz Fiddler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln Lutheran's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Fiddler was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Gavin Cornell and Braxton Glines did most of the damage at the plate: Cornell went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Glines went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Glines has posted since back in April. Kolt Fiddler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Wayne came up short against Norfolk on Monday and fell 11-6.

Gavin Redden was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Lincoln Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
