Softball Game Preview: Ursuline Academy Lions vs. Pearl River Rebels

The Ursuline Academy Lions will head out to square off against the Pearl River Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ursuline Academy fell victim to Fisher and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Gators.

Meanwhile, Pearl River scored first but ultimately less than Pope John Paul II in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 14-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost five in a row.

Emersen Blanchard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Elsensohn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Pearl River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Ursuline Academy might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Pearl River when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Can Ursuline Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
