            The Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks will take on the Hammond Baptist Swordsmen at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2  runs per game  this season.
On Friday, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech earned  an  8-4 win over Hammond Central. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Hawks.
 Noah Michniewicz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out nine batters over  6.1 innings while giving up  four earned runs off   three  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with four  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run.

 In other batting news,  Austin McKimmy and  Anthony Concepcion did most of the damage at the plate:  McKimmy  went 3-for-4 with four  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run, while  Concepcion  went 2-for-3 with three  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  double. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Concepcion a new career-high.  Camden Foster was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases and one  RBI.
 Hammond Academy of Science & Tech  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Central only posted  an  OBP of  .355.
 Meanwhile, Hammond Baptist had already won five in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six two weeks ago. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals  a   20-0 shutout.
 Hammond Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
 Hammond Academy of Science & Tech took their  victory against Hammond Baptist  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024 by a conclusive  16-9 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success,  or do  the Swordsmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
