Softball Recap: Hobart's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Illiana Christian, Hobart was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Westville Blackhawks by a score of 8-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Brickies as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Ladan Weinman, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nora Hornak, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hobart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Hobart's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Westville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Hobart will challenge Morgan Township at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cherokees have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.65 runs per game on average), something the Brickies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Michigan City at 6:00 p.m.
