Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arapahoe, Fossil Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Poudre Impalas 47-29. Given the SaberCats' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Impalas are ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elli Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 14 en route to 16 points and seven boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Gianna Leone was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Several Impalas players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elli Beauprez, who posted seven points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Maggie Foster, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Fossil Ridge's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Poudre, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Fossil Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-40 defeat against Rocky Mountain on the 28th. Poudre has also already played their next game, a 59-48 win against Fort Collins on the 28th.
