Football Recap: Knoch Comes Up Short

Knoch came into this matchup off a tough 59-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Fox Chapel Foxes by a score of 20-18 on Friday. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Knights couldn't quite close it out.

Fox Chapel had a senior duo take command as Max Melocchi picked up 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Joey Geller threw for 203 yards and a pair of TDs on only 19 passes. Melocchi also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Knoch is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Fox Chapel, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Knoch and Fox Chapel could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Knights (ranked 310th) will meet Montour (ranked 55th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fox Chapel will challenge Penn Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (356 vs. 106).
