Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Elias Garner and Michael Davis Lead Howard to Victory

Howard won the last time they faced Mill Springs Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Howard Hawks strolled past Mill Springs Academy with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. With that win, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.

Leading Howard to victory were Michael Davis and Elias Garner. Davis posted 26 points, while Garner earned 22 points. The dominant performance gave Garner a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Roberts, who scored ten points.

Despite the loss, Mill Springs Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hampton Hill went 14 for 18 en route to 38 points and four steals. Hill's evening made it 27 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jack D also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Howard has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Mill Springs Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Coincidentally, Howard and Mill Springs Academy will both be playing Tapestry Charter the next time they take the court. Mill Springs Academy will host Tapestry Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Howard will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
