Baseball Recap: Blackfoot Beats Shelley for Their Sixth Straight Win

Blackfoot had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Shelley Russets. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 8-3 victory on Thursday.

Easton Cannon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Cannon was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jake Vance, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Blackfoot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Blackfoot's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shelley, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coincidentally, Blackfoot and Shelley will both be playing Idaho Falls the next time they take the field. The Broncos will head out to face the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Russets will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
