Basketball Recap: Maret Falls Short Against Ranked Dalton

Maret is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Dalton. The Maret Frogs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the Dalton Tigers. The match marked the Frogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Loss or not, Maret got some senior leadership from London Liley and Kennedy Austin. Liley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards, while Austin dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Austin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Maret smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Maret's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Dalton, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Maret wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-33 victory against Bethlehem Catholic on the 15th. As for Dalton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-47 win against Fieldston on the 16th.
