Baseball Game Preview: Frontier Falcons vs. Hamburg Bulldogs

The Frontier Falcons will face off against the Hamburg Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Frontier has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Frontier will bounce into Friday's game after beating Williamsville North, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Falcons won by a run and slipped past the Spartans 7-6.

Evan Sullivan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Matthew Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Frontier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hamburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Clarence by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dylan Monczynski was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, Jonah Moscato made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Steffen, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Hamburg's loss dropped their record down to 8-3-1. As for Frontier, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Frontier beat Hamburg 4-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
