Basketball Game Preview: West Chargers vs. Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders

The West Chargers will take on the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Kapaun Mt. Carmel likes a good challenge.

West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They breezed past Valley Center to the tune of 81-54. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Kapaun Mt. Carmel waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over the Mavericks.

West better keep an eye on Corbin Johnson. He was instrumental in Kapaun Mt. Carmel's win, going 8-for-12 en route to 25 points and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jude Porter, who posted 11 points.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for West, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
