Basketball Recap: Sickles Skates Past Hillsborough with Ease

Sickles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Hillsborough Terriers 74-12. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sickles was led to victory by Jadyn Watts and Kelsey Sharpe. Watts dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards, while Sharpe dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten assists. Sharpe has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 35 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sadie Jones, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.

Sickles smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Hillsborough's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Robin Bailey, who earned five points, and Jaylesia James, who had four points.

Sickles is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Hillsborough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Sickles has already played their next matchup, a 56-45 loss against Steinbrenner on the 28th. As for Hillsborough, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-47 defeat against Plant City on the 28th.
