Basketball Recap: Aubre Prox's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kaufman over Midlothian Heritage

Kaufman lost against Midlothian Heritage back in November of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Kaufman Lions fell just short of the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars by a score of 38-36. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 16-7 in the first quarter.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubre Prox, who posted 19 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Wrenn, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Midlothian Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Batty led the charge by putting up 15 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Batty has scored at least a third of Midlothian Heritage's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Finch, who had ten points.

Kaufman's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Midlothian Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kaufman will face off against Ennis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kaufman is facing Ennis at the right time seeing as Ennis is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Midlothian Heritage, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars take on the Midlothian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
