West Stokes (King, N.C.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to six before the final whistle blew on a 27-21 victory over
Forbush (East Bend, N.C.).
After taking the lead on a
Malik Banner touchdown run in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 20-7 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 13.
Banner and Finney ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Falcons. Banner scored two touchdowns on the ground and Finney added three as well.
The victory was a step in the right direction for West Stokes, which was coming off a 24-21 defeat at the hands of North Surry in its previous game. The loss comes after Forbush defeated South Stokes 10-0 last week.
Forbush (4-4) goes up against Carver in a 2A Conference 7 game matchup next week, while West Stokes (6-2) locks horns with South Stokes also in a 2A Conference 7 game.
