Basketball Game Preview: Fredericktown Freddies vs. Columbus Academy Vikings

The Fredericktown Freddies will face off against the Columbus Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fredericktown will be strutting in after a win while Columbus Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Fredericktown took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Ridgedale 56-29. Given the Freddies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Rockets are ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cally Carpenter was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 10 en route to 25 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in shooting accuracy (90%). Gracyn Toombs was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Columbus Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 49-45 to Fisher Catholic. The Vikings have struggled against the Irish recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Fredericktown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Columbus Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
