Basketball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. West Campus Warriors

The Fairfield Falcons will head out to take on the West Campus Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

West Campus better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Fairfield really get things going. Fairfield blew past Valley 60-35 on Wednesday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Vikings are ranked 1339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnnie Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (five). Another player making a difference was Jaiden Johnson, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Fairfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, West Campus' good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Foothill.

Fairfield's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for West Campus, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
