Softball Game Preview: West Delaware Hawks vs. Williamsburg Raiders

The West Delaware Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Williamsburg Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, West Delaware came up short against Clear Creek-Amana and fell 8-3. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Clippers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg came tearing into Monday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-1 victory. 16 seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Williamsburg's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for West Delaware, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

West Delaware suffered a grim 13-5 defeat to Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in July of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
