Softball Recap: Midland Legacy Wins Going Away Against Castleberry

Midland Legacy got themselves on the board against Castleberry on Friday, but Castleberry never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Castleberry Lions as they made off with a 17-0 victory. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Hope McCreight looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Parker Brooks was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Saidy Melendez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Midland Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castleberry only posted an OBP of .273.

Midland Legacy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs over those games. Castleberry is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8-1.

Looking ahead, Midland Legacy will take on Greenwood in a tournament on Saturday. As for Castleberry, they will take on Wylie at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
