Basketball Game Preview: Cecilia Bulldogs vs. Catholic - N.I. Panthers

The Cecilia Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Catholic - N.I. Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cecilia will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, Cecilia was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-36 to New Iberia. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Catholic - N.I. was able to grind out a solid victory over Vandebilt Catholic on Saturday, taking the game 55-45. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Terriers are ranked 39th).

Catholic - N.I. has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Cecilia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Cecilia skirted past Catholic - N.I. 44-42 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cecilia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
