Baseball Recap: Verdugo Hills Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Verdugo Hills rose to the challenge on Thursday. They skirted past the Legacy Tigers 2-0. For the Dons, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past D'Angelo Duran, who gave up just three hits to keep Legacy off the board.

At the plate, Cutlor Gouger-Fannon was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Verdugo Hills is undefeated when Gouger-Fannon posts one or more home runs, but 9-16 otherwise.

Verdugo Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Legacy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Verdugo Hills will challenge San Pedro at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Dons surely won't give up without a fight. Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
