Softball Game Preview: Chesterton Trojans vs. Highland Trojans

Chesterton will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chesterton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Chesterton came up short against Valparaiso and fell 4-1.

Hannah Florian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chesterton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexia Franco, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Highland might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Munster who claimed the real prize. The Trojans lost 12-1 to the Mustangs. The Trojans have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Chesterton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Chesterton suffered a grim 16-8 defeat to Highland when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Chesterton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
