Basketball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Inglewood Sentinels

The Culver City Centaurs will challenge the Inglewood Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Culver City made off with a 59-58 win over Leuzinger. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Centaurs.

Meanwhile, Inglewood had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points) and they went ahead and made it 14 on Monday. They strolled past the Normans with points to spare, taking the game 88-71. Given the Sentinels' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Normans are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Culver City better keep an eye on Jason Crowe Jr. He was instrumental in Inglewood's win, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 55 points in addition to five steals and three blocks. The contest was Crowe Jr's 24th in a row with at least ten points. Parker Jefferson was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Culver City is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Inglewood, they pushed their record up to 25-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Culver City came up short against Inglewood when the teams last played back in January, falling 80-74. Can Culver City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
