Basketball Recap: Columbus Falcons vs. Callaway Chargers

Even though the Callaway Chargers scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Columbus Falcons still came out on top. Columbus walked away with a 66-55 win over the Chargers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Columbus also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Despite the loss, Callaway still got an impressive performance from Javarian Mallard, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Mallard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Derek Byrd was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.

Columbus' win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Callaway, they now have a losing record at 13-14.

Columbus won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Ridgeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Callaway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neshoba Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
