Football Recap: Colton Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tampa Catholic over Bishop Moore

Tampa Catholic had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it seven. They fell 29-20 to the Bishop Moore Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Hornets are ranked 59th).

Tampa Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Colton Jackson, who threw for 245 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown. Braylon House helped out on the ground, rushing for 108 yards.

As for Bishop Moore, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The 29-point effort marked their lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Amar'E Johnson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 270 yards and three scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.

Tampa Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 32-17 defeat against Killian on the 3rd. As for Bishop Moore, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
