Basketball Recap: Kentridge Chargers vs. Kentwood Conquerors
The Kentridge Chargers lost against the Kentwood Conquerors back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kentridge took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conquerors. Kentridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Kentridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Esperanza. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Esperanza pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jayla Keowla was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Kentridge's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Kentwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Kentridge will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sumner's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. Kentwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
