Basketball Recap: Jerome Comes Up Short

If Jerome was riding high fresh off their 56-22 takedown of Minico last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jerome Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 49-48 to the Mountain Home Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Jerome this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-33 back in January.

Mountain Home was led to victory by Juli Donez and Ava Johnson. Donez posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and six boards, while Johnson almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Donez a new career-high in assists. Anya Garza was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Jerome's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Mountain Home, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Twin Falls the next time they take the court. Mountain Home will host Twin Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Jerome will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
