Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Hawks vs. Fitchburg Blue Raiders

Hudson has gone 9-1 against Fitchburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Hudson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Fitchburg has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Hudson earned a 5-2 win over Groton-Dunstable. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jake Attaway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Attaway wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Wood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Wood a new career-high. Logan Dome was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Fitchburg fell victim to Nashoba Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wolves, falling 16-0.

Fitchburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Everything went Hudson's way against Fitchburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Hudson made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
